Parents Forever & Kids Talk About Divorce

Parents Forever is an education program for families in divorce transition. The program meets the guidelines outlined in the Nebraska Legislative Parenting Act, Statute #43.2901-43.2919. This program is geared towards parents (and their kids) going back to court for modification of custody issues.

About Parents Forever:

Parents Forever is a research-based curriculum developed by the University of Minnesota Extension that teaches parents to guide their children through the divorce process with as little negative impact to their children as possible.

This class will help parents:

  • Gain skills, knowledge and access to resources that will enable them to make responsible parenting decisions based on the needs of their children.
  • Learn about the potential effects of divorce on their children at various ages and developmental levels.
  • Learn how to support their children's adjustment to divorce.
  • Learn positive parenting concepts and positive discipline techniques to address the challenges of parenting children who are experiencing divorce.
  • Learn about conflict reduction and problem solving skills.

Kids Talk About Divorce:

A program for children ages 6-18 whose parents are attending Parents Forever. These classes are offered at the same time and location.

This class will help kids:

  • learn to talk to their parents.
  • understand that their emotional ups and downs are normal.
  • acknowledge and positively direct feelings of frustration and anger.
  • understand their rights and responsibilities

  • April 4 & 18, 2006 - Tuesday - 6:00-9:00 p.m.
  • May 6 & 20, 2006 - Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
  • June 6 & 20, 2006 - Tuesday - 6:00-9:00 p.m.
  • July 11, 2006 - Tuesday - 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • September 9 & 23, 2006 - Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
  • October 14, 2006 - Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • November 14 & 28, 2006 - Tuesday - 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
  • December 2 & 16, 2006 - Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Registration: Your registration information must be received at least one week prior to the class you wish to attend (see schedule above)
